Halifax goes Volvo

The Halifax Regional Municipality is gearing up for winter snow and ice control.

They have recently moved some of their snow plow operations into a former bus maintenance facility in Burnside and a fleet of about twenty plows was lined up Saturday in the parking lot.

Remarkably they were wall to wall Volvos, with only one exception [a prize if you can spot the Ford interloper.] Some of the Volvos date back to White/GMC cab styles, but Halifax seems to have concentrated exclusively on the big Vs.
Some plows are single axle and some tandem, reflecting the need to deal with small side streets and major arterials. Some have directional plows and some have wing plows. All are fitted with salt/sand spreader bodies.
