Odd Camper Vans

A couple of odd camper vans wandered into my view finder on Saturday.

1. and 2. The Toyota Town Ace has been around Halifax for a while, the only other shot I managed was a "going away" view in March, but finally I got the front view in the Canadian Tire store parking lot. A right hand drive vehicle, it was built in various versions from 1978 to 1996. This appears to be a second generation 4WD Camp Mate factory camper version, from the early to mid 1990s. The standard Town Ace had a more conventional passenger mini-van body.

The ubiquitous Mercedes Benz Unimogs can be seen worldwide, but are built only in Germany and Turkey. They are amazingly capable 4WDs, available in multiple configurations, including military. This camper appears to be a pretty much a standard Model 209D with a few add ons such as the odd pipe rack on the roof. Perhaps converted from a utility truck.
