More of them

The European RVs keep rolling in (by ship). After a few days in bond they are cleared by Customs and head off into deepest darkest North America. Some recent examples:

Not a converted bread truck, this is a Niesmann + Bischoff luxury build. (The company is a subdidiary of Hymer.)

We don't see too many VW vans. This one may be a DIY. Is that a solar panel on the roof?

Fiats are more common - this cab / chassis unit was the basis for a Franka RV body.

Even rarer are Jeeps from Europe - it would be interesting to learn the history of that one on the right with the folding roof top tent.

A giant Mercedes-based Eura Mobil would provide luxury transportation -  with staggering gas bills.

RVs - again

The inflow of RVs seems to be lagging a bit, so here a few earlier arrivals not yet posted- the long and the short of it:

Long wheelbase Fiat Ducato Maxi looks like a luxe model, but the builder's name was covered by the bike rack.

Peugeots are rare enough, but a 4X4 is indeed worthy of note. The body appears to have been built by Tikro, with windows supplied by Seitz.

I couldn't get a front end shot of this VW California. It did appear to have a pop top, but is certainly the smallest European RV I have seen this season.

Another one where I didn't catch the front. It was just leaving a traffic light and before I got my camera out of my pocket it was on its way..

Another high end model on a long chassis.

Happy Spring

With a winter that does not bear remembering, I welcome spring with a return to normal postings on Truckfax.

First up - those wonderful traveling Germans are back with their variety of off road and on road motorhomes of all descriptions. Every week ships of the Atlantic Container Line bring in several of these intrepid visitors. Here is a sampling of recent arrivals through the Port of Halifax.

Team Tinkerbell from Anvil Aerospace arrived with this Merc Unimog U4000. I'll let you figure out the model year (and it isn't 2772).

A more streamlined ride is this VW with  Autark camper body. See:http://www.woelcke.de/

Somewhere between the two, but still in gunmetal colour, this LandRover has an ambitious map traced out on its spare tire rim.

And now for something completely different. An IVECO chassis and Carthago M-Liner camper van body, has lots of storage space for smaller vehicles in the cargo bay.

And finally:

Although it is a Mercedes, it is wearing Canadian license plates, from British Columbia.  The body is from Leisure Travel Vans and it is a Unity model.
